For a winter of solidarity: Cáritas Chile faces emergency through frontal system
The frontal system that affects the central-southern area of Chile has so far left two dead, three missing, more than a thousand people in shelters and 59 homes destroyed, the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (SENAPRED) reported this Monday. Faced with such a scenario, Cáritas Chile launched the campaign “For a winter of solidarity: Together in this climate emergency” with the aim of raising funds to cover the humanitarian needs caused by the rains and river overflows. Through the Program, Environment, Risk Management and Emergency (MAGRE), in coordination with the diocesan teams in the disaster area, Cáritas accompanies the affected families from the first moment "assessing damage and needs of the most vulnerable, planning a response based on the humanitarian principles to which it adheres," the Catholic organization explained on its website.
Cáritas Chile makes available the current account of the Bank of Chile 117-01 to receive monetary contributions that will allow contributing to the immediate humanitarian response processes such as clothing, blankets, food, water, heating; as well as in processes of support and recovery of their homes and livelihoods.
